Skye and Harris APC

Skye & Harris Associated Presbyterian Church

Portree (Skye) Church

We are congregations of the Associated Presbyterian Churches meeting in Portree and Dunvegan on the beautiful Isle of Skye and at Seilebost on the Western side of the equally picturesque Island of Harris. We seek to bear witness to the orthodox Christian faith as enshrined in the Creeds of the early church and the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. We greatly cherish the catholicity of the church and the communion of the saints and therefore warmly welcome, worship and work with like-minded Christians. Our chief desire and delight is to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and to devote ourselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread and prayer.

Our worship is founded and focussed on the word of God. We sing the word, pray the word, read the word and preach the Word to the praise and glory of the God of the word. Our aim is to worship God in spirit and in truth.

It is our goal to be faithful and friendly, to be caring and considerate while compelling and contending for the faith. We want to see sinners saved and believers growing in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in the context of a fellowship of love. A warm welcome awaits you.

Rev. J. Ross Macaskill

Ross is married to Irene and they have three children, Abbi, Ruairidh and Alexander.  He was born and brought up in Inverness where he did his schooling and along with his family he attended the APC.  Before going into full time ministry Ross worked as a car mechanic but having a burden to preach the gospel he studied at Highland Theological College.

Following his studies he was ordained and inducted to a Church of Scotland pastorate in the Isle of Lewis.  More recent circumstances encouraged Ross to apply to the APC ministry and in early 2013 he was accepted as an APC minister.  He is delighted to be back in the denomination that he knew so well from formative years and is encouraged by the commitment and sincerity of the APC to gospel ministry.
